Ambassador Qi thanked the University of Zagreb for its long-term support to the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Proficiency Competition, and expressed his hope that teachers and students who were learning Chinese in Croatia and love China would firstly learn Chinese well and understand China better; secondly, make good use of the "Chinese Bridge" stage and jointly build a bridge of friendship;thirdly, strive to promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Western civilizations to create a better future. Ambassador Qi stressed that this year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia. Not long ago, the two heads of state had exchanged congratulatory messages and agreed to deepen political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, and lead the bilateral relations to achieve greater development. Ambassador Qi added that this year was also the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb. Over the past 10 years, more than a hundred teachers and volunteers at the Confucius Institute had made continuous efforts and played an important role in helping the Croatian people learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture. Ambassador Qi said that he hoped students would make more friends during their studies and enhance mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two peoples.

Boras said that in the past 10 years, the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb has achieved leapfrog development from scratch, from weak to strong, and not only made important contributions to the cultural exchanges between Croatia and China but also vigorously promoted the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. At present, more and more young people want to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture. The "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Competition had become an important stage for them to realize their dreams and show their talents. The University of Zagreb had always been committed to promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Croatia and China in the fields of culture and thought and was willing to continue to contribute to the promotion of educational cooperation between the two countries.

After fierce competition, Bernada Zoricic (Chinese name: Ruoqi) and Vanesa Gaza (Chinese name: Li Qiaoxue) won the first prize in the university students ' group and the secondary school students' group respectively, and would represent Croatia in the global finals.
