H.E. Ambassador Hu Zhaoming Meets with the Rector of University of Zagreb, Mr Damir Boras

On April 12th, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Mr Hu Zhaoming, met with the Rector of University of Zagreb Mr Damir Boras. Both sides exchanged their views on education cooperation between China and Croatia and cooperation between the institutions of higher education of the two countries.

H.E. Ambassador Hu Zhaoming first congratulated Mr Damir Boras on his re-election for the Rector of the University of Zagreb, thanked the University and Mr Boras for valuing and supporting of China-Croatia education cooperation, said that 2018 will be the ''big year'' for pragmatical cooperation between China and Croatia. With the confirmation that the strategic project of Peljesac bridge construction will be undertaken by Chinese company, bilateral cooperation in every field has speeded up its progress.

Ambassador Hu informed that in the recent public opinion poll research about China-Croatia relations, 89% of Croatians see China as a friendly country, nearly 50% of Croatians want to learn Chinese language, which are very encouraging. Chinese Embassy in Croatia is willing to work together with the University of Zagreb and continue promoting Chinese language and learning of Chinese language in Croatia, promoting to establish bachelor's degree program in Sinology in the University of Zagreb, strengthening the communication and cooperation between University of Zagreb and Chinese institutions of higher education and pushing forward the bilateral cooperation in education and culture to achieve more fruits.

Mr Damir Boras spoke highly of the active develop momentum of China-Croatia relations, said that University of Zagreb attaches great importance to the cooperation with China and is willing to positively respond to all cooperation initiatives proposed by Chinese side and put more effort into further the bilateral cooperation in humanities, especially in education cooperation.
