Embassy Spokesperson's Statement on the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's Anti-China Remarks
2020-10-03 02:26

We noticed that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo continued to spread "political virus" during his visit to Croatia. He maliciously vilified the Communist Party of China, attacked and smeared China for no reason, and attempted to sabotage China-Croatia relations. Chinese side firmly opposes this.

In the past 71 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have united as one and achieved world-renowned developments. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese people have the same dream, which is to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We urge some US politicians to do away with their arrogance and bias towards China and stop instigating the flesh and blood ties between the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people. Their attempt is wishful thinking and doomed to fail.

The US recklessly slanders China and Chinese companies without any evidence. Its real purpose is not to protect privacy or maintain cyber security, but to serve its own political purpose, consolidate its own digital hegemony and deprive other countries of the right to development. We will firmly support relevant companies to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and we will firmly safeguard international trade rules. China always insists on developing friendship and cooperation with other countries on the basis of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results. We are willing to continue to work with all countries to maintain a fair, just, open and non-discriminatory business environment, and ensure that safe, reliable and quality information technology will boost global economic recovery and help improve people's lives around the world.

We believe that the international community has a clear understanding of the political tricks of a small group of American politicians and will not blindly dance with the US. We also hope that the US will return to the right track of openness and cooperation.
