On 15 May 2026, Ambassador Qi Qianjin attended and addressed the inauguration ceremony of the Center for Historical Research on Intercivilizational Relations, jointly established by Capital Normal University and the Croatian Institute of History. The event was attended by Cao Wenjun, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Capital Normal University, the Deputy Director of the Croatian Institute of History, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, as well as experts and scholars from both countries.

Ambassador Qi congratulated the Center on its establishment and noted that the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping has received broad recognition from the international community. He stated that the establishment of the Center represents an important step by China and Croatia to promote mutual learning among civilizations and people-to-people exchanges, and will provide an important platform for academic exchanges and talent cultivation between the two countries. The Chinese Embassy in Croatia will continue to support cooperation between universities and research institutions of both countries.

The Center for Historical Research on Intercivilizational Relations is the first institutionalized joint research platform in the humanities and social sciences established by a Chinese university in Croatia. It aims to promote in-depth cooperation between China and Croatia in the fields of historical studies, area and country studies, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
