Xi Jinping congratulated Joko on his assumption of office as the new President of Indonesia. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Indonesia are good neighbors and good friends that enjoy harmonious relations and mutual trust. The two countries face similar national conditions and development tasks and share broad common interests in bilateral, regional and international affairs. Indonesia is the bellwether of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and a major representative of emerging economies in the world. Strengthening comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries is in line with the common interests of both countries and is also conducive to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity. I am willing to establish a good work relationship with you, jointly promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation, push forward the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and continuously promote the China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership for new progress so as to realize mutual benefit, win-win results and common development. I welcome you to come to Beijing next month to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Leaders' Meeting and expect to meet you on the occasion.
Joko expressed that to advance Indonesia's comprehensive strategic partnership with China is very important to both countries, to Asia as well as to the world and that he attaches great importance to enhancing friendly cooperation between the two countries. The Indonesian side hopes to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in economy and trade, investment, infrastructure construction and other fields. He looks forward to going to China to attend the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting and meet with President Xi Jinping to boost bilateral cooperation for more new results.
