On April 21, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Astana with Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov of Tajikistan.
Wang Yi said that China and Tajikistan are good friends, good neighbors and good partners. The two heads of state have established solid trust and friendship, which played an important leading role in the development of bilateral relations. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan. The two sides are now holding a series of celebration activities, reviewing the successful experience, and planning for the future development. China is willing to take this as an opportunity to, together with Tajikistan, deepen cooperation in the “Belt and Road” construction, make efforts in such major fields as connectivity and agriculture, and elevate China-Tajikistan relations to new highs, so as to make China-Tajikistan strategic partnership truly become a consensus between the two peoples.
Sirojiddin Aslov expressed that as close neighbors, Tajikistan and China enjoy a brotherly friendship. Tajikistan-China strategic partnership is really embodied in various areas rather than just staying in words. As one of the earliest countries that supports China on the joint construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Tajikistan is China’s determined partner in combating the "three evil forces". Tajikistan stands ready to, together with China, further enhance connectivity, and deepen practical cooperation in transportation, agriculture, economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields.
