2014-09-30 09:18

On September 29, 2014, President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico met at the presidential residence in Mexico City with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was attending the sixth meeting of the China-Mexico Intergovernmental Standing Committee.

Peña said that Mexico and China enjoy close relations with mutual respect and mutual trust. He highly cherishes the friendship with President Xi Jinping, and expects to go to Beijing to attend the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting and visit China. Mexico and China should, on the basis of the sound bilateral relations, earnestly implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, give full play to the roles of all government departments, and lose no time in advancing cooperation in extensive fields. Mexico is reforming in key fields, which will offer new opportunities for Chinese enterprises to invest in Mexico and conduct bilateral cooperation in fields such as energy and finance. The mutually beneficial cooperation between Mexico and China is opening up a new prospect.

Wang Yi said that China wishes the Mexican people continuous and greater achievements on the road of national reform and development under the leadership of President Peña. China welcomes President Peña to attend the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting in November in Beijing and visit China.

Wang Yi said that since President Xi Jinping and President Peña announced last year to raise the China-Mexico relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the bilateral practical cooperation has achieved important progress. As a major regional country with global influence and an important emerging market, Mexico enjoys a unique status in and influence on the Latin American region. China has always regarded and developed its relations with Mexico from a strategic height. The two sides should turn the high-level political mutual trust between the leaders and two countries into tangible results of practical cooperation in all fields, and speed up cooperation on major projects in fields such as infrastructure and energy to encourage investment and boost trade, thus injecting strong impetus into the China-Mexico relations. The two sides should also strengthen cooperation under the mechanism of the China-Latin America Cooperation Forum to advance the China-Latin America relations and achieve common development.
